Noil
Noil silk has a nubby feel and has a low sheen. This fabric somewhat resembles cotton in surface texture, but has the soft feel of silk against the skin. It also drapes better than cotton and resists wrinkling. The nubby texture of noil comes from the use of very short fibers, appropriately called 'silk noils'. When these short fibers are spun into yarns, the resulting yarns have occasional slubs and loose ends.

Matka
Matka is a heavy weight silk fabric made from very thick yarns. The yarns are obtained from short ends of silk from Mulberry silkworms and spun by hand without removing the gum (sericin). As such, there are slubs and irregularities that give the fabric a unique character. It looks something like a tweed, but the fibers are all the same color. Matka is sews easily & good for suits and jackets.

Tussar
Tussah (also Tussar) is a medium to heavy weight silk made from the cocoons of wild tussah silk worms. The warp and weft yarns are very different, giving tussah the look of woven grasses. Tussah is almost always a natural brown color, but it does dye well. Good for suits and jackets, and home decoration.

Other Silk Qualities - Ghicha, Munga, Katia, Spun, Fesua
Silk obtained from pierced cocoons or from other wasted yarns of Tussar, Mulberry etc.

Satin
Silk satins are a popular variety of fabric used for a varied end use. When made into dresses satin gives an elegant look.

Georgette
Silk Georgette has a grainy texture and a sheer feel. Similar to silk crepe, but is not as soft or lustrous as crepe. Georgette is durable, but snags easily. Drapes very fluidly, and falls into soft ripples. Great for loose, full blouses, evening wear, dresses and skirts.

Chiffon
Chiffon is elegant and sheer, with a very slightly rough feel to it. Chiffon is lightweight but strong. Chiffon is softer and thinner than Georgette, sometimes called 'Crepe Chiffon'. Georgette is made like chiffon, but a two or three ply yarn is used.

Crepe
Produced from 2-ply twisted yarn, twist and woven on power loom. It is a luxurious fabric with a good sheen and a pebbly texture. Crepe has a beautiful drape, and is great for semi-fitted to loose-fitted styles of dresses, blouses, suits, bridal gowns and evening wear.

Tabby
Tabby Silk is a very light weight silk fabric. As it's an ideal fabric for printing it is mostly used for scarves, pareos, bandanas etc.
